SUMMER COACHING APPLICATIONS OPEN

Students looking to join their school chapters program as volunteer coaches should look to apply asap. We receive hundreds of applicants, so put your best foot forward.

HEAD COACHES
Becoming a Track Stars coach is more than a summer job, it's a life changing experience for both the athletes and the coach. Track Stars specifically sources athletes as coaches due to their knowledge of the sport, tenacity, athleticism, and responsibility. To become a Track Stars head coach, fill out the form above. You will be contacted if you are accepted. All head coaches must have experience with running and with youth. Coaches can be post-graduate as well!
HEAD COACH QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a upcoming high school senior or older, have reliable transportation, and have experience working with children.
Head Coaches MUST be very available for all practices and have dedication to their teams. It is important that you give these young athletes consistency and reliability, it makes it all the more rewarding.
You do not need to be a star track & field athlete, but we do consider track & field experience/event group.
You may be contacted for a short phone interview depending on # of applicants.
Coaches must complete background checks at the state level and federal level if over the age of 18.
PAY STIPEND
Head Coaches qualify for a $200 total stipend for the full Summer (20 practices) as a leader of the team who attends at least 90% of practices. TBD bonuses for assisting at track festivals. Head Coaches typically average 25 hrs for a Full Summer. This is for two practices a week, including set up and break down, about 2.5 hours a week for 10 weeks. You will be required to fill out a 1099 as a contracted coach for the Summer.
VOLUNTEER/SENIOR PROJECT:
Head Coaches will work about 13 hours a session including track meets and training sessions. Coaches can qualify for up to 40 hours of volunteer work per summer if interested. To reach this # you must attend all track meets, trainings, and be a head coach for 2 programs. If you have a certain goal of hours contact your commissioner after acceptance.
OTHER LEADERSHIP ROLES: Head Coaches at new locations may be given leadership opportunities...learn about the student leadership board at our Downingtown Chapter. This includes leading team social media, sponsorships, events and more!
VOLUNTEER ASSISTANT COACHES
All coaches with Track Stars are inspirational guides for youth. Becoming a Track Stars coach is more than a summer gig, its a life changing experience for both the athletes and the coach. Track Stars specifically sources high school athletes as volunteers due to their knowledge of sport, energy, teamwork, and responsibility. High School coaches DO NOT need to be track & field athletes, all sports and speeds welcome. To become a Track Stars coach, fill out the form above. You will be contacted if you are accepted for the role. All coaches must be going into at least their sophomore year of High School and should have some experience working with children.
ASSISTANT COACH QUALIFICATIONS

SENIOR PROJECT & VOLUNTEER HOURS INFO
Assistant coaches are volunteer only. Many use this oppurtunity for their senior projects, commissioners will sign off and support this process.

COACHES IN TRAINING (C.I.T.)
If your 8th or 9th grader is looking to keep busy this summer, then they have the chance for transformative success with our Coaches in Training Program. Athletes 13 years of age or older can volunteer to assist with any of our junior or future teams. They will spend the summer working with athletes ages 5-10 years old. CIT QUALIFICATIONS
For upcoming 8th and 9th graders, must be 13 years of age or older by Summer.
CITs are Volunteers for Junior & Future Teams Only
All CITs are volunteers who can pick their practices that work with their schedules, parents of CITs should confirm schedules with Head Coach before the season starts. We ask CITs to commit to at least 1 day a week for 5 weeks. July 4th week off. Full Schedule: https://www.trackstars.org/schedule
CITs must have parental approval and be selected for the program, acceptance emails sent beginning of May.
PARENT VOLUNTEERS
If you are a parent of an athlete who plans to assist at Track Meets and other events, please email your commissioner your interest. No interview/application needed, all parents must have PA Abuse, PA Police, and FBI clearances up to date before the start of the session. STUDENT LEADERSHIP BOARDS
President – Leads the board and oversees all operations
Vice President of Sponsorship & Events – Organizes track meets and special events
Vice President of Communications – Manages emails, marketing, and social media
Secretary – Keeps records, meeting notes, and documentation
Treasurer – Manages budgets and fundraising finances
All leadership board members will hold paid head coaches positions for Summer 2026
